The badge always reflects the closest deadline

Does this sound like you?

Missed deadlines rarely come from not caring. They come from the date being somewhere you weren't looking.

🫥

Out of sight, out of mind

The deadline is in a calendar you only open when someone sends an invite — so it arrives without warning.

🔔

Reminders you've trained yourself to ignore

A pop-up 15 minutes before is either far too late to act on or one of forty you dismissed today.

📑

Deadlines scattered everywhere

Follow-ups in the CRM, invoices in the accounting tool, launches in a project board, and the rest in your head.

No sense of how close it actually is

"Friday" reads the same on Monday as it does at 4pm Thursday, right up until it doesn't.

🧾

The one that quietly costs money

A missed proposal window, an invoice sent late, a follow-up that went cold — each one has a real price.

A deadline countdown you can't help but see

No new app to open and no habit to build — the number simply lives where you already look.

Countdown on the toolbar

Your closest deadline, always visible

  • Days, then hours, then minutes
  • Refreshes every minute
  • No tab to keep pinned
🎨

Color-coded urgency

Read your day without clicking

  • Teal over a day out
  • Amber under 24 hours
  • Red the moment it lands
🔔

Deadline notifications

Every event, not just the closest

  • Fires the moment it hits zero
  • Click to open your list
  • Never repeats for the same deadline

8 one-click templates

Adding a deadline takes two clicks

  • Follow-ups, demos, invoices, launches
  • Sensible lead time pre-filled
  • Still fully editable
🔒

100% local, no account

Nothing leaves your device

  • No sign-up or login
  • No server, no network calls
  • No access to any website
1

Install and pin

Add the extension and pin it so the countdown badge is always visible in your toolbar.

2

Add a deadline

Click the icon, then either add your own or start from one of the 8 templates with the timing pre-filled.

3

Carry on working

The badge counts down on its own — teal to amber to red — and notifies you the moment it lands.

Four states, no instructions needed

The badge changes both its number and its color as a deadline approaches, so urgency registers before you've read anything.

3d

More than a day out

Teal — plenty of runway

5h

Under 24 hours

Amber — today's problem

12m

Under an hour

Amber — counting in minutes

NOW

Deadline reached

Red — plus a desktop notification

8 templates to start from

Each one pre-fills a sensible lead time — a demo call defaults to hours away, a tax deadline to weeks.

Sales follow-up Demo call Proposal deadline Campaign launch Webinar start Invoice due Client delivery Tax deadline

Built for people who work out of the browser

From remembering to simply seeing

The same three deadlines, with and without a countdown in front of you.

Sales Follow-Up

Remembered on Thursday

The 48-hour follow-up window closes while the proposal sits in a CRM tab you didn't open.

Amber at 20 hours left

The badge turns amber the day before, so the follow-up goes out while you're still fresh in their mind.

Client Delivery

"Wasn't that next week?"

Delivery dates blur together across three projects until one of them is suddenly overdue.

A number you can't miss

The closest delivery is on your toolbar all day — you feel it move from 5d to 2d without checking anything.

Invoices & Filings

Late fee, again

The invoice or filing deadline lives in an email you archived and a calendar you don't check daily.

Counted down for weeks

Added once with the invoice template, then visible every single day until it's handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers, including what this extension deliberately doesn't do.

Is this really free?
Yes — there's no premium tier, license key, or event limit. The extension has no backend to pay for, so there's nothing to charge for.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your own device, in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server, because the extension makes no network requests at all.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no email address to hand over. Install it and add your first deadline in under a minute.
How often does the countdown update?
Once a minute, which is the fastest a Chrome extension is allowed to schedule background work. It also refreshes instantly whenever you add or edit a deadline, so you never wait for the next tick.
What does the badge show when I have several deadlines?
Always the closest upcoming one. The rest are listed in the popup, ordered soonest-first, each with its own live countdown chip.
Will I get a notification when a deadline hits?
Yes — every deadline fires its own desktop notification the moment it passes, not just the one currently on the badge. Clicking the notification opens your list.
What happens if I turn notifications off?
The badge keeps working normally. The extension checks your notification permission at runtime, so blocking notifications in Chrome or your OS is respected rather than overridden.
Can it read the websites I visit?
No. The extension requests no host permissions and installs no content scripts, so it has no technical ability to see, read, or change any page you open.
Does it sync with Google Calendar?
Not yet — Google Calendar sync is on the roadmap. Today the extension is deliberately local-only, and the data format is already built to support syncing later without losing anything you've entered.
Does it sync between my computers?
No. Deadlines live on the device you added them on. That's the trade-off that keeps the extension account-free and completely private.

You already know your deadlines.

What you don't have is a way to feel one getting closer while you're doing something else.

Deadline Badge puts that number where you already look a hundred times a day — the corner of your browser.

Free forever. No account. Nothing leaves your device.

About This Extension & Data Usage

Deadline Badge has no backend at all. It collects nothing, transmits nothing, and cannot see any website you visit.

💾

Your Deadlines Stay on Your Device

Everything is written to your browser's own local storage. There is no server to send it to — the extension makes no network requests during normal operation.

🚫

No Access to Any Website

The extension requests no host permissions and installs no content scripts, so it has no technical ability to read or change the pages you browse.

🔑

Three Permissions, All Explained

Storage saves your deadlines locally. Alarms wakes the extension once a minute to keep the countdown accurate. Notifications tells you when a deadline is reached — and is checked at runtime, so turning notifications off is respected.
